Hello and FYI's 10/09/2009

Greetings HvZ enthusiasts,

We're getting close and closer to our start date, October 20th, and just wanted to check in, say hello and give a couple FYI's.

1. Keep open the evenings of the 16th, 17th, and 18th.  We will be having two or three meetings that you must attend at least one of.  If you cannot possibly make any of those nights to sign in you will not be allowed to be registered on the site unless you email me with a very good excuse.  These meetings are for your safety.

2. Always say "Blasters" or "nerf blasters," never use the word "gun" on campus. Train yourself to use 'blaster,' even when speaking of normal guns.

3. When the Web site comes open for registration you will need to upload a clear picture of your face. This is a must.  The Web site is not open just yet.

4. Always read anything sent to you all the way through.

5. Don't misrepresent HvZ.  People already know we're a bit crazy.  Don't make them think we're dumb or rude, too.  Be understanding of people who think the game is lame.  They're wrong, but that's okay.  Don't yell at them.

Once again, I must say it is awesome to be emailing so many of you.  This game should be the best yet.

Greetings,

The new fall 09 edition of Statements magazine just came out and it features and article on Humans vz Zombies on page 44.  Pick up a copy or read it online.  The article was written by Steve Cross, who has played HvZ here at K-State and also organized Nerf games on weekends.

It's an excellent article, though the quote from Jesse at the end is a little over the top.  What's nice is that the article includes our Web site, and the name of our Facebook group.  We'll keep our fingers crossed and hope that the article generates some interests.

Looking to set up a game of some sort this weekend.  Some Nerf capture-the-flag on Sunday afternoon, I think.

Greetings,

We had a great time advertising on the plaza during the activities fair.   I nearly talked myself hoarse telling people about it, and several times we had decent crowds of listeners.  I added many email addresses to the HvZ mailing list I maintain at bluemarten@gmail.com

And we spoke with Dr. Bosco himself, who said he loves things like this, but expressed some concern about Nerf blasters on campus.  He asked that I email him the rules so he can take a look at it again. (We sought university approval two years ago and were told they would neither sanction nor prevent us as we fall inside all University rules that might affect us.)

So, word to the wise, when speaking of/playing HvZ or engaging in HvZ related activites, handle yourself in a professional and responsible manner.

This blog post/site update has been sent out to test the use of that mailing ist, so talk to your HvZ playing friends and ask if they recieved the email.

We're probably playing in October, if anyone asks.  We'll be advertising a couple more times in the future.  Let me know if you have ideas or would like to help advertise.

And we will organize a few pre-game games to familiarize people with the rules and get pumped for the actual game.  Nerf capture the flag games (without Zombies) will definitely be part of the action.

Greetings,

A message was sent to the members of the Facebook group informing them of an HvZ advertising opportunity on August 27, 2009 during the campus Activities Fair.

Contact Jesse Abram on Facebook or at bluemarten@gmail.com if you are interested in helping.

Thanks,
Jesse Abram
